Toledo, OH

Our Christian Study Center offers the leisure to grow in intellect and virtue. As students feel isolated at the university and tradesmen feel like cogs in the machine, we offer a space for rest and learning. In our courses, we train men to think, write, sing, and remember under the Lordship of Christ. Both our public events and our courses of study are designed for Toledoans to grow in love for Holy Scripture and to think Christianly in modernity. We serve the students of the University of Toledo and Bowling Green State University as well as downtown Toledo.

VISION: Encouraging Toledoans to think and live under the Lordship of Christ.
We are a Christian Study Center offering public lectures, hymn sings, and student fellow programs. Our events are in downtown Toledo to muster a fruitful intellectual life in the city, and our fellows take a wide variety of courses in theology, literature, history and music.Today’s universities require humanities courses. But most moderns haven't acquired a love of learning in a hospitable community. Even college graduates don't love learning. Dedicated to leisure, Iona is for those who want a safe place to study, to think, and rest. Students who go through our courses or attend our public events will be better equipped to live fruitful lives of obedience to Christ.
Distinctives
- Iona holds to the Apostle’s Creed, the Nicene Creed, and The Westminster Confession of Faith. All are welcome at our study center. Whether Protestant, Roman Catholic, Orthodox, or something else, any man can apply for our courses of study and all are welcome to our public events.- As of now, our post-secondary courses of study are for men. Universities are filling up with women, while the men are leaving. We are offering a place for those men to grow.- We are located in Toledo, OH.- We offer courses in music, literature, history, philosophy, and theology.- We require music courses for those in our student fellows programs. Students are not required to play an instrument. The music courses cover light theory, music history, and vocals. (Even if residents are tone deaf, they are required to take the music courses.)- Our courses are in-person with small class sizes, close to the Oxford model.
